Work and Witness

Hola Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well and had an awesome Thanksgiving!  We are finally ready to re-start planning our next trip to Mezcala, Mexico which will be dedicated to the memory of Evelyn Roy.  We will be working with Vanessa, Cris, Pastor Rene and a new member Nancy, who has been working with the kids in Mezcala and is very excited about creating a Child Development Centre.  For those are not familiar with the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries’ Child Development Centres, NCM’s Child Development program recognizes the importance of children and believes that a child’s development is a process of realizing the full potential of human life as God intended it to be.  NCM Child Development Centers are committed to work with families and with the community to help children achieve and develop their God-given potential, and become positive influences and healthy adults.  We believe that there is no greater need for this ministry than in Mezcala, Mexico and that we will reach the adults and families through this kind of ministry to break the cycles of abuse and neglect that exist.  Because of the great need that exists in Mezcala, we will not be planning any ministry outside of that community and will be focused on making a difference wherever we see a need.

Once again, we will be working on construction as well as ministry so there will be opportunity for team members with many different skills and talents.  Vanessa is putting together a more detailed plan which we to be able to share soon.  We have learned through experience that God works through the team utilizing all our talents to accomplish His goals so please do not undervalue yourself as an important part of this ministry.  We have approval from the Mexico field to plan for spring of 2022 and we are looking for input on dates before we confirm.  Please pray about this opportunity and let us know if you feel called to this ministry and if so what your availability is for the spring of 2022.

Most of all, we covet your prayers for this team and firmly believe that God has a plan and a purpose and that He is already working in the hearts of those He has chosen.

Eric and Debbie

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

MANSWELL’S MERRY MESSAGE DECEMBER 2021

Grateful Greetings to all our friends and family!!!
We pray that God has filled your life with HOPE over the past year and you can proclaim with us,
“All my life You have been faithful, All my life You have been so, so good,
With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God!” (Bethel Music)
This has been a year of HOPE for Anthony & Barbara. Through Isaiah’s writing (9:1), we are reminded that, “…the time of darkness and despair will not go on forever.” As a friend recently wrote: This has been an EXPENSIVE year, because of loss; freedoms, employment, death of dear friends and family members through various circumstances. ~Triple M Christmas Party

But we are constantly encouraged by scriptures such as Romans 5:2-4. ”…We rejoice in the HOPE of God’s glory. Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, HOPE.”
We have HOPE in many areas of our ministry. We have continued teaching online, and it has been such a joy to invest in the lives of young adults. We have continued with Manswell’s Marriage Ministry (Triple M), both virtually and in-person, depending on the restrictions throughout the months. We have done pre-marital and post-marital counseling with several couples and participated in some of their weddings. We recognize such HOPE in the church through these dynamic couples who desire to impact their world for Christ.
Although we are on our own for Christmas this season, God has provided many opportunities for us to interact with our extended family and spiritually-adopted kids here. God wonderfully provided for all four of our children to go to British Columbia, Canada for Christmas with the Wergeland family, Cynthia (Barbara’s sister), Bruce, and cousins, Ali, Grace, Zach and Ben. ~Sandy & Kerwyn with Anya

Kenrick began his medical studies at the Medical College of Wisconsin in August and is infused with HOPE that he will be a medical doctor, as God continues to prepare him through this method. He has experienced God’s provision through many individuals. Thank you to each one who has invested in him on this journey!
Kavanah has HOPE that she will graduate from Trevecca Nazarene University in May 2022. Though things did get a bit mixed up with all that has gone on in the past two years, she has come to her final few months and will be a student-teacher for the entire spring term.
Jayedon thrived academically, but had a much slower term physically. His HOPE in Christ is to be able to return to complete strength and ability to play soccer with his team at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where he still has a scholarship. This past season he has been a great encouragement and support to the team from the bench. July was difficult for Jayedon. However, God was faithful after the accident, to heal his back after having surgery. Also, God healed after having surgery on his knee.
Jerrick had a wonderful first term at Olivet Nazarene University and has HOPE that through Christ, his second term will enable him to continue to grow. His faith has been stretched through experience and classes. He really enjoys the Engineering club, Baja, on campus and using all the 3-D machines. ~Jerrick, Kenrick, Jayedon & Kavanah in BC

As we come to the end of 2021, I have been gripped with the gift of HOPE that we have in Christ Jesus; past, present and future! He was the long-awaited Messiah in the past and we have great HOPE and expectancy as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ. Our present HOPE is reflected in the assurance that God is working through Christ, by the Holy Spirit, daily in our lives. Our HOPE is also futuristic, as we know that Christ will return. Our HOPE is eternity with Christ.
May your choice of HOPE in Christ Jesus empower you to have a meaningful, memory-making, mission oriented Christmas season that continues into the New Year, 2022!

MANSWELL’S MESSAGE OCTOBER 2021

Hello Friends and Family,
BECAUSE He has not given us a spirit of fear, we go forward with strength and confidence! It is a joy to share all that God has been doing in the lives of the Manswells and their ministry over the past few months.

BECAUSE all four Manswell children are studying in various locations in the USA, Anthony & Barbara are adapting to the “empty nest”. We are enjoying this time of adjustment, valuing the time over the years that we have invested in our relationship, appreciating the uniqueness of the other, and the opportunity to spend time together in various ways. ~Good friends, Nazim & Candi

BECAUSE CNC is continuing to follow government mandates, Anthony & Barbara are back into the routine of teaching their CNC courses online. It is such a delight to teach, encourage and mentor these young men and women from a godly perspective.
~CNC Students with Anthony

BECAUSE God has helped us identify specific individuals, both of us are mentoring young men and women; meeting regularly with some, using media platforms and investing in their lives in many forms. ~Girls Time

BECAUSE we believe that God has given us a wonderful earthly marriage, we are delighted to share, encourage and challenge other couples on their own marriage journeys. We continue to thrive in doing pre-marital and post-marital counseling, as well as our monthly marriage ministry with more than 25 couples.

BECAUSE God has poured His love into our hearts, we have the opportunity to pour into others. St James Church of the Nazarene has a monthly food program at our church called Hope Kitchen. We, along with other individuals from the CNC community, have been actively involved in working to offer meals and hampers to individuals and families in need. ~HOPE KITCHEN – packing grocery hampers

BECAUSE God has opened all the doors, Kenrick is studying to show himself approved. God has provided in every way for Kenrick to fulfil the purpose that He called him to. He has added his words of gratitude here:
Hey Friends! I want to thank you again for coming on this journey with me. It has been a journey in which I have seen mountains move and faith in Jesus strengthened exponentially. I just wanted to give an update BECAUSE it has been a little while since ya’ll have heard from me.
I’m now 6 weeks into medical school and loving it! The end of September was the end of our first block of classes and as such we had our first medical school exams. They went well for most of our class, including myself, so I praise Jesus for that. While I will always look for ways to improve, I am happy with how my study methods have been working. Thank you for continuing to pray with and for me on this journey.
You might be wondering if what they say about medical school study is true. I can now attest that after putting in between 40 and 50 hours of study time on a weekly basis these first 6 weeks, it is indeed true. In addition to all of that, I have been able to get connected with school peers, began attending a church in the area, joined a Sunday afternoon soccer league, and connected with several different doctors. It’s a busy but incredibly rewarding life. I think the most rewarding experience thus far has been volunteering at a free nonprofit community medical clinic that is run out of a church. For the first time, I got to see the tremendous amount of love and put some of the knowledge I have gained in my classes to use.
My host in Milwaukee continues to be a tremendous blessing who goes out of the way to ensure I am well taken care of and staying sane amongst the long hours of study. I always investing in young people
thank God for a universal church that is keen in supporting people like myself in times of need. Ya’ll rock! ~Kenrick & friends

As always I ask that you continue to pray with me for a few things:
1. That I can find a Christ serving mentor here at MCW or in the local community.
2. That I continue to remember how blessed I am to be here, especially in times of great stress.
3. For the coming years financially-speaking. I am still in need of funding for my next three years and am trusting God to provide.
4. That I am able to find a church family with whom I can grow and be a helper as well.

Thank you again for joining me on this wonderful journey.
As always, blessings from this student doctor, Kenrick.
BECAUSE He is a God of one direction, Kavanah (her name means “caring heart, having one direction”) was able to add a Worship minor to her degree and is thriving in her classes at Trevecca Nazarene University.
BECAUSE He is the Great Physician, Jayedon is healing well, walking and doing physical therapy to regain full mobility. We are trusting God for complete healing and deeply overwhelmed by the support and prayers of God’s people all over the world for Kenrick & Jayedon over the past months since their July 16 accident. Jayedon is back in classes at MidAmerica Nazarene University and supporting his soccer team this season. ~Jayedon & Izan, fellow soccer player

BECAUSE He is a God of perfect timing, Jerrick was able to fly to the USA in August, prepare, and begin classes in the engineering program at Olivet Nazarene University. He is adjusting to this new stage of independence as a young adult. Also, he is enjoying making friends, participating in intramurals, and developing his spiritual direction in obedience to God.

PRAISE REPORTS
1. We are incredibly grateful for the World Mission Medical Plan, which many of you support. God used this amazingly to provide for Jayedon’s back surgery and subsequent physical therapy.
2. God is taking care of the detailed needs of each of our children, even while we are far away from us.
3. God continues to provide meaningful interactions and relationships here in Trinidad as we continue to serve Him at CNC, in the English-speaking Caribbean.
4. The wonderful encouragement, cards, texts, calls and prayers that we have received over the past several months.

PRAYER REQUESTS
1. Continued sensitivity to the Holy Spirit as we mentor and guide the young men and women at CNC.
2. The recruitment team at CNC; that their efforts
would be dynamic and many students will register to attend CNC and gain the in-depth high-quality education that we have to offer.
3. Manswell’s Marriage Ministry – that God would give wisdom as we counsel, share our lives, and encourage couples to love each other over a lifetime.
4. Our Fall 2022 Home Assignment preparation and schedule. We still have dates open, so please drop a note if you would like us to share in your church or on your district!

I Thessalonians 5:24 BECAUSE “He who calls us is faithful, He will accomplish the task!” We do not need to be worried about the outcome, as we walk confidently in obedience to God, day by day.

On God’s Adventure,
The Manswells 6,
Anthony, Barbara, Kenrick, Kavanah, Jayedon & Jerrick

MANSWELL’S MESSAGE JUNE 2021

Dear Friends & Family,
Greetings in the name of our all-sufficient Lord & Savior! We, as part of the body of Christ, are so privileged to serve Him in such a MYRIAD of ways around the world. We pray that you are experiencing His presence as you serve as part of the body. He is truly at work miraculously!
We wanted to share just a quick update on our MYRIAD path directions these days.
Anthony & I have enjoyed teaching over the modular period at Caribbean Nazarene College. We continue to delight in mentoring and connecting with a MYRIAD amount of our students here. It is also such a joy to work with the MYRIAD married couples in our MMM (Manswell’s Marriage Ministry) group. This is Cherisse & Deon, one of the delightful couples.
I am sure you are wondering about Kenrick. Here he is with his friend, Landon. I will let him share his exciting news with you with MYRIAD words of his own.

“Do you remember when you first heard a story of an athlete, lawyer, missionary, police officer, etc. who finally saw a childhood dream and desire become a reality? Seeing those individuals have that dream come to life captures our attention. I am grateful to be one who has seen a dream inspired by the Lord become a reality myself! I will most assuredly be attending the Medical College of Wisconsin this fall. Thus I am seeing the dream of my younger self unfold in what continues to be an incredibly spectacular way. Every step of this journey has been a step of faith. I needed to show support of $319,000 to MCW by June 1, 2021, for the US government in order to procure the student visa. I have been able to show this support with funding received from many people ($114,500 USD), as well as equity and investment endorsement from a few individuals (204,500 USD). Hence, I will be able to start medical school in August! While I do NOT have the cash on hand to pay for the program in its entirety, I will be trusting God to provide the rest in the coming weeks, months, and years through people, hope for scholarships, and whatever loans I can find. Please know that I am incredibly grateful for every single person that has poured prayer, resources, and time into my being able to meet the deadline. My journey is one that is full of faith pillars that myself and individuals who follow me will look back on with what the hymn writer describes as strength for today and hope for tomorrow. I ask that you continue to pray with and for me as I begin what will be an exciting, but challenging 4 academic years.
I ask that you pray specifically for the Lord to continue providing mentors, finances, and a strong community in Milwaukee where I’m moving. Thank you and blessings from this incoming class of 2025 M.D.!”

Kavanah is enjoying a summer mission project in Texas through Next Step Ministries. She is enjoying the daily work projects as well as the evening worship times. She continues to praise God for the MYRIAD ways that He confirms His direction for her.
Jayedon is preparing for soccer training to begin in a couple weeks. God is teaching him MYRIAD lessons as he walks this part of his journey. In this picture, he is with Lucho, one of his friends.

Jerrick is finishing off MYRIAD final projects and activities in Trinidad, in preparation of flying to the US on August 5, to begin his studies at Olivet Nazarene University this fall.
Anthony & Barbara are transitioning our thinking to virtual services for our Home Assignment this fall. As the borders of Trinidad are not open fully, we are unable to physically travel for our HA. We are disappointed that we will not be able to make physical contact with so many of our friends and partners in ministry, but pray that God will use us in this time to advance the message of the mission of Christ and of the Church!
If you and/or your church are interested in scheduling a virtual service with us anytime this fall, we would be delighted to hear from you. Send us a note at abmanswell2@gmail.com and we will set it up.
We thank each one of you for your MYRIAD prayers and support over the years and know that God continues to work in MYRIAD ways in and through, us as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Anthony & Barbara with Jerrick, Kaminie & Dwight (two of our adopted kids)

Praise Reports!!
1. God’s continued faithfulness at CNC, as we continue to teach and mentor students.
2. Support from people that have enabled Kenrick to gain the student visa to begin at Medical College of Wisconsin in August 2021!
3. Acceptance and flight for Jerrick to attend ONU this fall!
4. Ability for us to host virtual Home Assignment services this fall.

Prayer Requests!
1. Resources and students for CNC.
2. Financial provision for international students at CNC.
3. Anthony & Barbara as they prepare to teach AND host virtual HA services this coming fall.
4. Healing for a knee injury that Jayedon sustained in one of his soccer games in April.
5. Continuing provision for each of our children as they will be away from us in the coming year, all of them studying in the USA.
We will be praying that God will continue to show up in your life in MYRIAD ways, as continued confirmation of His love and purpose for your life!
